Lightning Capital

Charles Hwang was  the driving force behind launching Lightning Capital Asset Management in 2018. He is a bitcoin OG and veteran with expertise in bitcoin mining and investing since 2013.  Charles became an Adjunct Professor at Baruch College in New York five years ago, teaching a course on bitcoin's financial, economic, and regulatory aspects. In the fall, he will do the same at the University of Miami’s Herbert School of Business. With over two decades of financial experience, Charles is uniquely qualified to be the Chief Investment Officer for Lightning Capital.

Charles Hwang has been mining bitcoin for the last three years. He followed the mining space closely and saw an opportunity when energy prices and mining machines were cheap to start a mining operation. He ran financial models to ensure even during a bitcoin halving cycle, the operations would be profitable. In addition, Treasury management is a key component of maintaining proper liquidity of the business. Charles and his partners recently launched Lightning Energy to expand the bitcoin mining operations.

Before founding the hedge fund, Mr. Hwang was a valuation consultant and a forensic accountant at Ernst & Young LLP. Before that, he worked as a Senior Equity Trader in May 2000. Mr. Hwang received his Master’s of Accountancy degree from the Baruch College and his B.S. in Economics from the University of Rochester. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst Charterholder (CFA) and a Certified Public Accountant
