Bitcoin Developers Academy

Fodé is a Senegalese Bitcoin and lightning developer. Born in Senegal, he witnessed firsthand how money can be a form of control when the CFA franc was devalued in half, nearly destroying his dream of attending school in the US. Fodé believes Bitcoin is a tool for humanity to fight oppression. He currently is working on the Bitcoin Developers Academy to teach African students Bitcoin programming and applications. Courses will cover building Bitcoin clients, mining pools, wallets, smart contracts, DevOps, and security best practices for Bitcoin applications.

He was born in Dakar, Sénégal (West Africa) but mostly grew up in the United States. He started looking into Bitcoin around 2011 and has since been hooked on the technology and its surrounding philosophies. He's been featured numerous times on Bitcoin Magazine, the most influential article being Alex Gladstein's "FIGHTING MONETARY COLONIALISM WITH OPEN-SOURCE CODE"

He's passionate about teaching software engineering as a tool for empowerment. He fluently speaks 3 languages and hopes to also help francophone Africa acquire key technical Bitcoin knowledge.
