Marc van der Chijs is a Dutch-Canadian investor and entrepreneur active in both the crypto and the carbon credit space. He started his career working for Mercedes-Benz in Germany, Indonesia and China. He founded China’s largest online videosite Tudou.com in 2004, the company listed on the NASDAQ in 2011 and after merging with Youku it was sold to Alibaba for $5 billion. In 2013 Marc became active in Bitcoin and he started several companies in the space. Among others First Block Capital, Hut 8 Mining (publicly listed), The Bitcoin Trust (sold to 3iQ and listed as QBTC on the Toronto Stock Exchange), and First Coin Capital (sold to Galaxy Digital). He is also active in the carbon credit space with Climate8.com.
