FTX is a crypto derivatives exchange -- it's less than a year old, is growing quickly, and is now pretty consistently top-5 in volume and trades around $1b/day.

Developers here own and drive a LOT (see https://blog.ftx.com/devs-who-understand-trading/). The team is small, moves really quickly, and spends the majority of their time working on new features, not maintenance. FTX has been the first to introduce several products to the crypto space -- leveraged tokens, index futures, straddle contracts, custom options, etc. -- and a lot of that is an engineering push.
