Pavol Rusnák, or Stick, is the co-founder, CTO, core developer and cryptographer at SatoshiLabs. He is leading the development of software and hardware projects such as Trezor, the first hardware wallet. Along with his regular work, he is also interested in artificial intelligence and cognitive science in general. In his spare time, he works on award-winning new media interactive installations.
Slush is co-founder and CEO of SatoshiLabs — the creator of the world's first hardware wallet, Trezor. Marek has been in Bitcoin since 2010 and founded the world’s first bitcoin mining pool. He is well known to the cryptocurrency community all over the world as an industry visionary and innovator.
Alex Adelman is the CEO and co-founder of Lolli, a rewards application that lets people earn bitcoin when they shop online from 750-plus top merchants. Alex was previously the CEO and co-founder of Cosmic, the leading e-commerce gateway, which was acquired by PopSugar in 2015 and then by Ebates in 2017. Alex positioned Cosmic and Lolli as high growth, high value and industry-leading technology companies, establishing strategic partnerships with key partners in e-commerce. Alex was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Retail & E-Commerce. His work has been featured by The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Fortune, Wired, TechCrunch, Cheddar, MarketWatch and Digiday and he’s presented at Advertising Week, Fashion Tech Forum, TechCrunch Disrupt, Tech Cocktail, Money 20/20 and Technori. Alex holds a BA in economics from UNC-Chapel Hill.
Christopher Allen has been involved with cryptocurrency for 26 years, going back to working with DigiCash in the early 1990s and is an online security pioneer and former Blockstream standards and identity practice specialist. Christopher is perhaps best known as the co-author of IETF TLS Internet-draft, which underpins much of the existing e-commerce security on the web. He is also the co-founder of Consensus Development, which in the late 1980s helped Netscape develop SSL, a widely-used communications security protocol. He is the co-founder of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and working group for decentralized identity (DID) solutions. He has launched a series of smart custody workshops that invite key ecosystem participants to share and learn the latest in technical and regulatory custody considerations.
Brandon Arvanaghi is chief security officer at Layer1, the first vertically-integrated Bitcoin mining company in the U.S. He believes increasing the U.S. hash rate is a matter of national security, and Layer1 is leading that push. Before Layer1, Brandon was an early security engineer at Gemini, where he specialized in cryptocurrency custody, hardware security modules (HSMs) and smart card programming. He was also a core developer on the Gemini dollar, the world’s first regulated stablecoin. Prior to Gemini, Brandon was a security consultant at Mandiant, where he conducted red teaming, penetration testing, digital forensics and reverse engineering.
Adam Back’s hashcash proof-of-work system is used in counterspam technologies and cryptocurrency mining. Adam was one of the first people to work on Bitcoin and was contacted by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2009 to give his thoughts on hashcash's usage in Bitcoin. Adam is a founder of the technology company Blockstream, which is one of the main contributors to Bitcoin Core. As Blockstream’s CEO, Adam has been a leading developer of the Lightning Network, Liquid sidechain and other interesting projects. Adam’s contribution to Bitcoin and cryptography development has made him one of the main cryptocurrency experts today. He is actively conducting talks on such topics as privacy, scaling and the future development of Bitcoin.
Isabela has been part of the free software community and an activist for democratization of information since the late 1990s. She joined the Tor Project as project manager in 2015 after working as product manager for international and growth at Twitter for four years. Prior to Twitter, she worked with the Brazilian Federal Government on digital inclusion and other free software projects from the Ministry of Communications as well as the Presidential Palace of Brazil. Isabela became executive director of the Tor Project in 2018.
As the co-founder and chief executive officer of BTC Inc, David Bailey is an industry leader and evangelist for the decentralized future. Since 2013, BTC Inc has grown to offer critical intelligence, brand-building expertise and technical incubation specialized for the blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem, as well as industry-leading projects like Po.et. Under Bailey’s direction, the company now operates in multiple countries and has raised $35.5 million in aggregate across its businesses.
Bailey is also a member of the board for the Blockchain Education Network; serves on the board of directors for the publicly-traded digital publishing company Maven (MVEN); sits on the board of advisors for the University of Alabama; is a managing partner at 402 Digital Partners, one of the earliest crypto funds; and is an active angel investor for emerging blockchain-based projects.
A physics graduate from MIT, Sam was a trader on Jane Street Capital's international ETF desk. He traded a variety of ETFs, futures, currencies and equities, and helped design its automated OTC trading system. Sam left Jane Street Capital in late 2017 and started a quantitative hedge fund and liquidity provider called Alameda Research. After trading on dozens of exchanges and identifying multiple issues, he decided to launch FTX International in early 2019 and plans to launch FTX USA in Q2 2020.
Steve Barbour is the owner and founder of Upstream Data Inc., a bitcoin mining service provider focused on oilfield applications. Steve is a mechanical engineer with a background in oilfield product design. Upon learning about bitcoin in 2016 Steve started Upstream Data Inc. as a means to leverage bitcoin mining as a tool to solve waste energy problems in the upstream oil and gas industry.
Bryan Bishop is a Bitcoin Core contributor and independent tech consultant represented by his talent agent, Michael Solomon. Bishop was responsible for bitcoin and digital asset handling at LedgerX, the first CFTC-regulated bitcoin options exchange and clearinghouse. Before that, Bishop was software consulting on web app development in the tech sector. Simon is the CEO of ZEBEDEE, co-founded with MandelDuck and Andre Neves in October 2019 after a spell as head of corporate Ddvelopment at Bitstamp. With many years of experience in traditional finance ranging from venture capital to private equity and asset management, Simon brings a sharp understanding of financial markets and corporate strategies to ZEBEDEE. He has keenly followed the progress of software eating the world, and since 2014 his working life has been dominated by the realization that software is now eating finance — through the open decentralized network of Bitcoin.
Leigh Cuen is a tech reporter covering blockchain technology for publications such as Newsweek Japan, International Business Times and Racked. Her work has also been published by Teen Vogue, Al Jazeera English, The Jerusalem Post, Mic and Salon. Leigh does not hold value in any digital currency projects or startups. Her small cryptocurrency holdings are worth less than a pair of leather boots.
Terry Culver is the CEO of Digital Finance Group, where he is responsible for business development and U.S. investments. He has 20 years of experience in capital raising and international affairs. He is also a senior advisor at Columbia University School of International & Public Affairs, and former associate dean. He is a former United Nations policy advisor in Africa, Asia and Latin America. His education includes a BA and master’s from NYU, an MBA from Columbia University Business School (2019) and executive programs at Stanford and MIT.
Brian Estes is the CIO and managing partner at Off The Chain Capital; plus he is a general partner at Polychain Capital. Brian helped finance, build and mentor four blockchain companies whose combined value is over $10 billion today. Prior to his involvement in blockchain technology in 2014, Brian was a leading endowment and foundation asset manager who was ranked in the top one-tenth of 1 percent of Morningstar asset managers between 2004 and 2014. Brian has his bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and master's in business administration from Washington University. Brian also studied at Cambridge University and the London School of Economics. For fun, Brian has been an instrument-rated private pilot for 30 years and has over 2,100 flight hours in his single-engine Cessna Cardinal. He also enjoys spending time with his wife of 27 years.
Edward is the Director of Business Development at Slush Pool and Braiins. He stumbled upon Bitcoin while working in Shanghai and was quickly drawn to Bitcoin mining. Now in Prague, his work focuses on mining pool services, Braiins OS mining tools and open-source initiatives
For over a decade, Jack has been offering unique gaming experiences using the latest technological innovations. When the App Store was opened in 2008, Jack founded indie gaming company Firezoo, whose games have had over 40 million downloads. His latest project, THNDR Games, is a startup developing mobile gaming monetization strategies using Bitcoin. He believes the emergence of the Lightning Network opens the door to a new evolution in gaming.
Jason leads venture investments and strategies at Sora Ventures. Prior to Sora, Jason was the head of global business development at Juzix (now PlatON), a leading blockchain company led by Wanxiang Holdings that focused on distributed ledger technology and multi-party computation. Jason joined the blockchain industry in early 2016 as an Investment associate at Fenbushi Capital, Asia’s first blockchain venture capital firm where he managed deal flows and post-management of companies in North America. He also co-founded Sora Foundation, an initiative that consists of blockchain development, community development and conferences. Jason is also an active mentor at Alchemist Accelerator in Silicon Valley and Startupbootcamp in China.
Wes Fulford is the CEO of Bitfarms, one of North America’s largest vertically-integrated blockchain infrastructure and cryptocurrency mining companies. Wes joined Bitfarms in early 2018, bringing more than 15 years of investment banking, capital markets and asset management experience to the company. Wes manages corporate direction and strategy at Bitfarms, facilitating company activity in capital markets, sales, marketing, strategic alliances and business development. Prior to joining Bitfarms, Wes led the financial institutions and fintech investment banking practice for one of Canada’s largest financial institutions, Desjardins Group. Wes is a CFA charter holder and a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, Toronto Chapter.
Pascal started his career at Kelkoo, a price comparison service acquired by Yahoo for 475 million euro in 2004. He then joined the advertising company Criteo in 2008 where he worked for five years as COO, being instrumental in the pivot to advertising, which led to the company’s global expansion towards a 2.17 billion euro market capitalization. Before becoming CEO at Ledger, Pascal worked as venture partner in Mosaic Ventures, a London-based venture capital firm focusing on Series A stage companies. Pascal is also non-executive chairman of Kaiko, a financial data website on Bitcoin.
Alex Gladstein is the chief strategy officer at the Human Rights Foundation. He has also served as vice president of strategy for the Oslo Freedom Forum since its inception in 2009. In his work, Alex has connected hundreds of dissidents and civil society groups with business leaders, technologists, journalists, philanthropists, policymakers and artists to promote free and open societies. Alex's writing and views on human rights and technology have appeared in media outlets across the world, including The Atlantic, BBC, Bloomberg, CNN, Fast Company, The Guardian, NPR, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, TIME and WIRED. He has spoken at universities ranging from MIT to Stanford, presented at the European Parliament and U.S. State Department and serves as a faculty member at Singularity University and as an advisor to Blockchain Capital. Sharon is the CEO and co-founder of Arwen, a platform that offers the best protection from exchange hacks by allowing users to trade at centralized exchanges without giving up custody of their coins. Sharon brings over a decade of expertise in network security and cryptography to Bitcoin. She is also an associate professor in the Computer Science Department at Boston University, where she focuses on securing the protocols that provide many of the internet’s core functions. Sharon received her Ph.D. from Princeton University in 2009 and is the recipient of two IETF/IRTF Applied Networking Research Prizes, an NSF CAREER Award, an N2 Women Rising Star in Networking and Communications Award and a Sloan Research Fellowship.
Diego Gutiérrez-Zaldívar was one of the pioneers of web development in Argentina and all of Latin America in the mid-’90s and has had a leading role in fostering Bitcoin and blockchain technology in Latin America since 2012. He is the CEO of IOVlabs and its platforms RSK and RIF. Rootstock (RSK Labs) is the first open-source, peer-to-peer, smart-contract platform and payment network with a two-way peg to Bitcoin that also rewards miners via merge-mining. RSK’s goal is to add value and functionality to the Bitcoin ecosystem by enabling smart contracts, near-instant payments and high scalability. Gutiérrez-Zaldívar became familiar with Bitcoin in 2011 and since 2012 has devoted himself to the creation of Argentinean grassroot Bitcoin communities. He is one of the founders of the Argentinean Bitcoin Community, which has over 2,000 members registered via Meetup and 20,000 members in its online community.
Starting his professional skateboarding career at age 14, Hawk quickly rose to the top of the sport and helped to dramatically expand its popularity around the world by launching a national exhibition, skateboard and apparel company and eponymous video game series.
In 1999, he famously landed a "900" for the first time in competition in San Francisco, just minutes away from where Bitcoin 2020 will be held. In 2002, Hawk launched the Tony Hawk Foundation to help build safe skateparks around the country and the charity now accepts bitcoin donations.
In May 2019, he quipped on Twitter that he had “Been riding [Bitcoin] for 6 years. Haven’t bailed yet,” identifying himself as a HODLer with a penchant for igniting the Bitcoin community.
Nozomi Hayase, Ph.D, is the author of the book "WikiLeaks, the Global Fourth Estate: History Is Happening" and a liberation psychologist whose writing and activism is dedicated to the empowerment of ordinary people. Through her journalistic work, she applies psychological lenses to social and political issues and engages the public in a search for truth, justice and fairness. She covers issues of free speech and transparency, including the vital role of whistleblowers and cryptocurrencies in creating a more democratic society.
Yuzo Kano is co-founder of the bitFlyer group, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in Japan, and the CEO of bitFlyer Blockchain, Inc. Yuzo serves as representative director for the Japan Blockchain Association (JBA) and director of the Japan Cryptocurrency Business Association (JCBA). His committee involvement includes the following: ISO/TC307 Blockchain and Electronic Distributed Ledger Technologies Japanese Mirror Committee, Advancement of Public and Private Sector Data Utilization Planning Executive Committee, G7 Employment and Innovation Ministerial meeting in March 2018 and the The V20, VASP Summit in June 2019.
Cory Klippsten is the founder of SwanBitcoin.com and GiveBitcoin.io. He also serves as an advisor to Unchained Capital, Riot Blockchain (NASDAQ: RIOT) and Adaptive Capital, and is a partner in PurposeLab and Bitcoiner Ventures. As an advisor, he has supported more than $250 million of fundraising since 2016, and as an angel has funded 20-plus early-stage startups. Before working with these startups, Klippsten worked for Google, McKinsey, Microsoft and Morgan Stanley, and earned an MBA in finance and entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago. He grew up in San Francisco and Seattle, split 15 years between New York City and Chicago, and now lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughters. His hobbies include Bitcoin, history and travel (Istanbul and Barcelona are favorite cities).
Since founding Bitstamp in 2011, Nejc has been instrumental in developing Bitstamp into one of the most trusted and highest volume bitcoin exchanges in the world. He is in charge of Bitstamp‘s overall strategy, vision and product development. With a keen interest in promoting economic empowerment and technology, Nejc is a respected speaker and grassroots crypto supporter who has been involved in the development of the industry since its early days. He remains a big believer in Bitcoin and is especially fascinated with the potential of the Lightning Network.
Josh Lawler is an equity partner at Zuber Lawler where he leads the New Technology Practice Group, focusing on novel issues presented by developing technology including blockchains (distributed ledgers), artificial intelligence, robotics, virtual/augmented reality and internet of things. Josh has over twenty years of experience as a securities attorney with focuses on finance and mergers and acquisitions, as well as intellectual property development and licensing. Prior to joining Zuber Lawler, Josh earned a bachelor of science degree from Duke University in biological psychology, with a minor in genetics, earned honors at Northwestern University School of Law and practiced corporate securities law at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom, LLP.

Hailey Lennon was the head of legal and regulatory affairs at bitFlyer, one of the largest bitcoin exchanges in the world. She helped oversee the Tokyo-based company’s expansion into the U.S. in 2017 and facilitated the acquisition of its New York BitLicense — a cornerstone piece of regulatory framework for Bitcoin-based businesses. Prior to joining bitFlyer, Lennon led Silvergate Bank’s Fintech and Virtual Currency Compliance Department as its regulatory compliance and legal advisor. Before her time at Silvergate, Hailey served as in-house counsel for a fiat currency exchange company as well as a commercial litigation attorney at Gordon & Rees, one of the most prominent law firms in the U.S. She has advocated for self-regulation of the cryptocurrency industry and currently serves as a board member of the Virtual Commodity Association. Hailey also serves on the ACAMS Northern District Executive Board as co-programming director.
The first coder to work alongside Bitcoin’s pseudonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto
He earned Satoshi’s trust enough to be given admin access to the website Bitcoin.org, and most of the changes in Bitcoin’s second code release are attributed to him.
In his first email to Satoshi, in May 2009, Martti offered his services: "I would like to help with Bitcoin, if there’s something I can do," he wrote.
Satoshi quickly gave Martti practical suggestions for how he could help the project. The most important was the simplest: to leave his computer on with the Bitcoin program running. Five months after Bitcoin was launched, it was still not possible to trust that someone somewhere was running the Bitcoin program.
In the very first recorded transaction of bitcoin for USD, Martti sent NewLibertyStandard 5,050 bitcoin to use for seeding the new exchange. In return, Martti got $5.02 via PayPal.
John is an open-source Bitcoin developer. He work at Chaincode Labs in New York, where he spends his time contributing to open-source Bitcoin projects. John wants to help make Bitcoin the best kind of money the world has ever had — secure, private, fungible and scalable. He also cares about spreading knowledge about Bitcoin and Bitcoin development, and helping onboard new contributors to the project.
John started contributing to Bitcoin Core in late 2016, when he attended the first Chaincode residency. He has contributed code and review to most parts of the codebase including validation, networking, wallet, GUI and test framework. In 2018, John organized the second Chaincode residency and helped organize the Chaincode Lightning Apps Residency, and in 2019 he helped run the fourth Chaincode residency. He started Bitcoin Optech in 2018 to help Bitcoin businesses adopt scaling technologies and improve communication between the Bitcoin open-source community and businesses using Bitcoin. John also started co-hosting the New York BitDevs socratic meetups in 2018. In 2019, John started the Bitcoin Core PR Review Club to help newer contributors learn about the Bitcoin Core review process.
Rodolfo is the co-founder of Coinkite, a company that has been developing Bitcoin solutions since 2012. His work has been focusing on the hardware side and he has long been fascinated by the idea of creating a physical bitcoin solution that was actually trustless. Rodolfo is also an avid believer in online freedom of expression.
Obi Nwosu is one of Britain’s longest-standing Bitcoin experts. As CEO and co-founder of Coinfloor, the U.K.'s oldest Bitcoin exchange, he has over 20 years’ experience building online marketplaces and bringing virtual currencies to tens of millions of people.
Rob Odell is co-president and chief product officer at SALT where he is responsible for developing the strategic direction of the company, managing the product and marketing teams, creating the product roadmap and developing the marketing strategy. He is responsible for gathering insight into business problems, obtaining user feedback and turning stakeholder ideas into products and features. Additionally, Rob works closely with the marketing and design teams to improve the user experience and communicate the value, benefits and differentiators for SALT. Prior to his role at SALT, Rob held product manager roles at Skookum and Search Scientists. Rob has been a Bitcoin believer since 2013 after being introduced to it by a Bali-based coffee roaster selling his beans for bitcoin.
Stephen Pair is the co-founder and CEO of BitPay, a leading worldwide provider of Bitcoin payment technology. In 2011, Pair co-founded BitPay with Tony Gallippi because he saw Bitcoin's potential to transform payments for businesses and consumers. As CEO, he is involved in directing the day-to-day operations as well as the long-term vision of BitPay, from research and engineering to product development and information technology. Pair started programming at a young age and spent much of his early career focused on languages, compilers, operating systems and virtual machines. Later, he developed an interest in the mechanics of financial markets, economics and monetary systems, as well as developments in cryptography. He has a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology and holds two patents in the field of streaming analytics.
Anita Posch is a Bitcoin educator, the host of the “Bitcoin & Co.” podcast and author of a Bitcoin guidebook in German. Anita is a member of the board at “Bitcoin Austria” an educational non-profit organization established in 2011. She translated both volumes of "The Internet of Money" by Andreas M. Antonopoulos to German. In her podcast, she discusses the philosophy and ideas behind Bitcoin with its makers. Her guests are developers, cryptographers, company founders and researchers from all parts of the world. Anita has as strong background in web development, e-commerce and online business. In 1999, she started her entrepreneurial career as web designer and co-founded her first online platform in 2006. Her former business clients include KTM Sportmotorcycle AG, woom GmbH and the Vienna University of Economics. In 2017, she finished the Digital Currencies course at the University of Nicosia. Anita has a multimedia producer diploma from the SAE Institute and studied Urban Planning at the Technical University of Vienna. Her statement about Bitcoin: "Bitcoin might be our only tool to secure the human right to privacy and freedom of transaction. It's a true medium of liberation for billions of people in rogue or underdeveloped states and a defense mechanism for privacy in our ever more digital lives."
Charlie is host of http://UntoldStories.com. In 2011, at the dawn of the crypto era, Shrem founded BitInstant, the first and largest Bitcoin company. In 2013, he founded the Bitcoin Foundation and served as its vice chairman. Since then, Charlie has advised more than a dozen digital currency companies, launched and managed numerous partnerships between crypto and non-crypto companies and is the go-to guy for some of the world’s wealthiest entrepreneurs. He recently started http://Crypto.IQ, a premier advisory firm providing expert research, education and advice in the world of crypto assets.
Jimmy Song is a Bitcoin educator, developer and entrepreneur. For the majority of his 20-year programming career, Jimmy has worked as a software developer for a wide array of companies in different fields, including entertainment, healthcare and e-commerce. He began exploring Bitcoin in 2011 and was contributing to open-source Bitcoin projects by 2013. In 2014, he joined Monetas, where he led the development of Bitcoin integration with open transactions. After managing the development of a business-friendly bitcoin wallet for Armory Technologies, Jimmy became the principal architect for Paxos, creating blockchain solutions for institutional entities. In 2018, Jimmy joined Blockchain Capital as a venture partner. In addition, he runs Programming Blockchain, a company that trains students around the world in blockchain programming and development techniques.
As one of the first to frequent the in-person "cypherpunk" meetings organized by Timothy May, Eric Hughes and others in the 1990s, Szabo poured himself into the topic of digital privacy, though his interests were much more wide ranging.
Beginning in the early 1990s, he developed the concept for "smart contracts" that became ubiquitous in the blockchain technology space. His proposal for a decentralized digital currency, bit gold, has been seen as laying critical groundwork for Bitcoin, including through its use of cryptographic puzzles.
His writing on countless complex subjects has been referenced by academics and historians alike, and much of it is hosted on his blog (unenumerated.blogspot.com). His 2002 essay "Shelling Out: The Origins of Money," in which he describes how using money has been embedded in the very DNA of humanity, has shaped the way many understand Bitcoin today.
Sunayna Tuteja is the managing director of digital assets and blockchain at TD Ameritrade. In her current role, Sunayna is responsible for building a scalable blockchain and crypto practice within TD Ameritrade.
This rapidly-growing practice is inclusive of partnerships, investments and products to harness the growing power of blockchain technology.
Prior to this position, Sunayna led an entrepreneurial “tiger team” at TD Ameritrade to build the next generation of products, experiences and business models needed to break down barriers to investing and engage more people on the platforms they use every day. Her team was responsible for delivering industry-first partnerships and products with cutting-edge startups and leading global technology companies including Apple, Amazon, Google and Tencent.
A lifelong learner, Sunayna is working on her Juris Doctorate at Stanford Law with a focus on the impact and influence of disruptive technologies, and the future of jurisprudence. Through partnering with the Stanford Innovation Lab, she works closely with the startup and VC communities helping to advance public and corporate innovation. Amiti is a Bitcoin Core contributor at Xapo. She started her career working at startups around San Francisco and joined Coinbase in 2018. She attended the 2019 Chaincode Labs Summer Bitcoin residency. She is contributing to Bitcoin Core by redesigning how transactions are broadcasted to improve privacy. Her other passions include off-trail backpacking, ice climbing, yoga and meditation.
Born and raised in Mainland Europe's financial capital of Frankfurt/Main, Weil fell into the "Bitcoin rabbit hole" in late 2012/early 2013. After being one the founding members of Frankfurt's original Bitcoin Meetup back in 2013, he relocated to Vietnam in early 2014. He is currently active as the co-founder and COO of Vietnam's first Bitcoin Exchange, BitcoinVN (which also brought the first Bitcoin ATMs to Vietnam) and has been leading the efforts of the organization to implement blockchain-based remittance payments with the goal to provide faster processing times and lower transaction fees. Weil was also involved in the organization of Vietnam's first fintech and blockchain conference, "Blockfin Asia," in 2016, which brought together for the first time in Vietnam leading figures of the State Bank of Vietnam, the local fintech ecosystem, as well as international blockchain experts from over a dozen countries and four different continents. In his free time, he still dedicates resources to the Bitcoin Saigon community of which he also was a co-founder in 2014 at a time when Vietnam did not possess any public meetups around the topic of Bitcoin and related technologies.
Tyler Winklevoss is co-founder and CEO of Gemini, a digital asset exchange and custodian. He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in economics and earned an MBA from Oxford University. He represented the United States at the 2008 Olympics Games in Beijing, China. Tyler has been an angel investor and entrepreneur in emerging technologies since 2003. He began investing in bitcoin in 2012 and launched Gemini in 2015.

He graduated from Harvard University with a degree in economics and earned an MBA from Oxford University. He represented the United States at the 2008 Olympics Games in Beijing, China. Mark is the founder, CEO and chief investment officer of Morgan Creek Capital Management. He is also the managing partner of Morgan Creek Digital Assets. Morgan Creek Capital Management was founded in 2004 and currently manages close to $2 billion in discretionary and non‐discretionary assets. Prior to founding Morgan Creek, Mark was CIO and founder of UNC Management Company (UNCMC), the endowment investment office for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC). Before that, he was senior investment director for the University of Notre Dame Investment Office. Mark has been at the forefront of institutional investing throughout his career. An early investor in alternative asset classes at Notre Dame, he brought the endowment model of investing to UNC, which contributed to significant performance gains for the endowment. The endowment model is the cornerstone philosophy of Morgan Creek, as is the mandate to invest in innovation. Mark is again at the forefront of investing through Morgan Creek Digital Assets, which was formed in 2018. Morgan Creek Digital is an early-stage investor in blockchain technology, digital currency and digital assets through the firm’s Venture Capital and Digital Asset Index Fund. Mark received a BA with honors from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA in accounting and finance from the University of Chicago.
